The Transition From Team Sports to Running

Today I will be talking about what it has been like to transition from team sports like soccer and baseball to sports like running and biking due to the coronavirus.

The Differences

Before the outbreak, I was playing baseball around 4 times a week and soccer 4 times a week. Now, none of this is happening because it is all canceled. I used to run at most once a week for like 2 miles, now I am running 5-6 days a week for 17 miles total. Huge difference. It has been weird going from team sports to running because all of a sudden I have all this time on my hands and I get bored when I would usually be at sports practice but it is also kind of nice because I get to do things like play games with my sister that I never would have done.

Pros and Cons of Running

Some of my favorite things about running are that I get to be by myself and it is peaceful, also I feel super tired for 30 or 40 minutes but then I am ok. With team sports, I am kind of tired for an hour and a half straight. I don’t really know which one I like better though. Some of the bad things about running are that I don’t get to be with friends and I get bored just being by myself because there is no one to talk to a lot of the time.

Pros and Cons of Team Sports

My favorite things about team sports are that I get to be with my friends and actually interact with people and have fun. Also, I just love playing baseball and soccer and it is just super fun even if it was by myself. I don’t really think there are any bad things about team sports other than if you mess up, you are letting down your whole team instead of just yourself which puts a lot of pressure on you and could make you want to quit the sport.

What do you think about the change? Which type of sport do you like better?
