Be Thankful

I experienced an awakening in Laos in 2015 on my first journey down the Ho Chi Minh Trail / Blood Road. I found a missing piece of myself, my family, a new family and a deeper understanding of the world we collectively inhabit. The trail has taught me lessons (I call it Dirt Dharma), but more importantly, the trail became a conduit for deep and meaningful human connections. I have returned to Laos and the Ho Chi Minh Trail every year at this time for an annual pilgrimage. Returning to the trail in Laos heals and fortifies me. Being there keeps my eyes, heart and mind open so I can follow my father’s instruction to Be Good. On my return trips, I haven’t traveled alone. Instead I have taken four trips with other riders who were seeking to use their bike for healing, empowerment and evolution. This is the time of year I would typically be on the trail in Laos with another group of MTBLAO riders. For safety reasons, I did not get to return this year, but my spirit is soaring from the connections of our deeply meaningful rides over the past four years. The people who have traveled down the trail with me have been part of my continuing Blood Road and Be Good journey. We have all come back awake, enlightened and changed. Thank you to all of the MTBLAO riders who have trusted me and taken this journey with me. Our connection and bond will last forever. I am so incredibly grateful for each of you. Khop Jai Lai Lai.
