Hi, my name is Oliver and I am 13 years old. I will be doing a blog post every day about various sports.

First up. I love to play baseball but hate to watch it. That needs to change. I think there are many ways the MLB can improve watching baseball and make it more fun. The MLB has already tried to figure something out by making the balls go farther which resulted in more home runs and increased the ratings and amount of people watching the games a bit. But that wasn’t enough. Here are three more things I think could make people want to watch baseball more.

One: Shorten the Seasons

The first way is to shorten the season and go from the huge 162 game season to a more reasonable 100 games. This would help majorly because I think one of the main problems is that people get bored seeing so many games and by the end of the season they just stop watching the games. Think of the NBA for example, they have 73 games a season and that is the perfect amount because by the end of the season you are feeling tired of watching the games but still love to.

Two: More Defensive Play

Another way is to increase the amount of defense played because for me when I watch baseball the most fun thing is seeing the outstanding plays by the players, not the strikeouts or the home runs. To make this happen at first I thought that they could limit the amount of off-speed pitches a pitcher could throw but that didn’t work out because that would only result in more home runs and even less defense. My next idea was to somehow change the bats and make them hit less powerful balls and more grounders but that seemed way too hard for the MLB to do. So my final way would be to make the field bigger and get rid of the buffed balls that the MLB added last year. This would result in many fewer home runs and super cool plays by the outfielders.

Three: Eliminate Intentional Walks

The final way I think the MLB could improve is to get rid of intentional walks. This would allow the hitters that have trained their whole lives to be this good to finally not get robbed of the game-winning moments. This would be a great improvement to baseball because it would cause more awesome moments for the fans to watch and walk-off hits. It would also make it so that there be more fun at-bats where even though the pitcher didn’t look like he was intentionally walking he actually was and then it would be fun to see the batter reach out for a pitch well outside of the box and obviously a ball and then hit it.

I know that if the MLB makes these changes to their games everything would improve and watching baseball would be super fun.
