A Little Bit About Him

Kobe was voted on to 18 All-Star Teams, he also won the 2008 MVP award. He was selected to 15 All-NBA teams, and 12 All-Defensive Teams. He also once scored 81 points in 1 game, by the way, that season, he was averaging 35.4 points a game. That is crazy! As you can see, Kobe was an amazing player who never deserved to die.
What His Death Meant to the NBA
Kobe’s horrible death on January 26, 2020, meant a ton to the whole NBA world. Many teams in the NBA honored Kobe in many different ways but the team that did the most was, you guessed it, the Los Angeles Lakers. Many teams in the NBA, on their first game since his death, either ran out a 24-second shot clock or the 8-second shot clock. This was because his numbers were 8 and 24. But what the Lakers did was awesome, outside the stadium they had pictures of him up and fans would sign their name on the picture. Also, they had his jersey on every seat in the arena so any fan attending the game would have a Kobe jersey. Before the game, there was a memorial for Kobe and players like Lebron James talked about him. Plus the Lakers skipped 3 games in his honor. Another thing that happened was people just posting nice things about him on social media and being kind. This wasn’t just NBA players though. In the NFL All-Star game, there was a moment of silence before the game and throughout the game, players did Kobe celebrations in honor of him. As you can see Kobes death greatly impacted the sports world.

I’m not going to lie, I was never this huge Kobe fan. I always liked him but he wasn’t my favorite player. But even to me, his death meant a ton. I began watching more basketball for a bit and tuned in to all the stories about him. I know that his death meant a ton to any NBA fan even if they didn’t like him.
